This is not simply a front-desk position. We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients, understands dentistry, is comfortable discussing treatment and finances, and takes ownership of helping patients move from diagnosis through treatment. Our practice provides comprehensive restorative, cosmetic, implant and general dentistry, including larger and more complex treatment plans. The right person will be an important connection between our doctors, clinical team and patients. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is: Experienced in dentistry — dental office experience is strongly preferred Comfortable discussing treatment costs and larger financial decisions Warm, personable and able to quickly build trust with patients Organized and detail-oriented Confident without being pushy or "salesy" An excellent listener and communicator Comfortable answering questions and working through patient concerns Able to follow up consistently without making patients feel pressured Coachable and interested in continued learning A strong team player who is willing to jump in when needed Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do Comfortable working in a busy, collaborative environment Experience presenting larger dental treatment plans is a significant plus. What You'll Do The Treatment Coordinator will help guide patients through the treatment-planning process from beginning to end.
Responsibilities may include:
Participate in treatment consultations and records appointments Develop rapport and understand each patient's goals, concerns and priorities Review treatment plans with patients Clearly explain treatment investment and payment expectations Discuss available payment and financing options Help patients work through questions or barriers to treatment Coordinate scheduling of treatment Maintain organized treatment pipelines Document patient conversations and outcomes Establish specific follow-up plans and dates Personally follow up with patients who are considering treatment Coordinate closely with doctors, assistants, hygienists and administrative team members Help ensure diagnosed treatment does not unintentionally fall through the cracks Assist with other administrative responsibilities as needed How We Approach Treatment We are not looking for a salesperson. Our philosophy is to educate patients well, understand what matters to them, clearly communicate their options and help remove obstacles when possible. Some patients are ready immediately. Others need time, additional information or financial options. A great Treatment Coordinator understands the difference and knows how to remain helpful and engaged without creating pressure. For larger cases, continuity is especially important. We want our Treatment Coordinator to understand the patient's story, hear the doctor's recommendations, participate in the consultation and remain involved through financial presentation, scheduling and follow-up. About Our Practice We are an established, privately owned dental practice in Chapel Hill with a strong emphasis on: Comprehensive patient care Cosmetic and restorative dentistry Implant dentistry Long-term patient relationships Continuing education Teamwork and cross-training Excellent communication Creating an exceptional patient experience We have a busy clinical practice and a team that works closely together. We value people who communicate directly, support their teammates, accept coaching and are always looking for ways to improve.
Experience Preferred:
2+ years of dental office experience Treatment coordination or financial presentation experience Understanding of common dental procedures and terminology Experience with comprehensive or larger treatment plans Dental software experience Candidates with strong dental experience who have not formally held the title of Treatment Coordinator are also encouraged to apply. The Person Matters We can teach systems, workflows and the specifics of our practice. What is much harder to teach is the ability to connect with people, listen well, communicate confidently, take ownership, work as part of a team and comfortably discuss money. If that describes you — and you are looking for a practice where you can grow and play an important role in the patient experience — we'd love to meet you.
