Header Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and dental charts to inform treatment plans. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring proper safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to empower them in maintaining healthy smiles. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, managing chairside assistance, and ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) including documentation review, medical coding, and updating patient information. Follow strict infection prevention protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure the safety of patients and staff while managing dental equipment and sterilization processes. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and handling medical records securely. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse when necessary to support comprehensive patient care. Support the dental team by managing appointment scheduling, patient communication, and ensuring adherence to infection control standards. Header Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care. Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Skilled in dental x-ray procedures with certification in radiography if required by state law. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively across all age groups including pediatrics. Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems for accurate documentation review and medical coding. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail.
