STERILIZATION ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparing patients for treatment by welcoming, comforting, and seating patients Preparing all instruments and materials needed for the appointment/procedure Sterilizing and maintaining equipment, instruments and operatories Follow OSHA rules/regulations as directed for all dental equipment & instrument sterilization processes Must complete sterilization reports as required and ensure team is compliant with all sterilization processes Processing items for sterilization processing, including the processing/oiling of hand pieces and replenishment of bur blocks/kits. Performing daily, weekly, and quarterly preventive maintenance on instruments and handpieces. Recommending replacement of unserviceable items to area leadership. Operating sterilizers and washers to ensure proper cycle progression; performing tests to assure proper operation. Keeping operatories clean and adequately stocked Documenting items needed for restocking Being able to learn and adequately manipulate dental software Periodontal charting & overall patient charting as needed Performing other supportive office tasks Laboratory work- pouring models, making whitening trays, etc.

BASIC ASSISTING RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be fully trained to assist the doctor on basic dental procedures. Prior to treatment, reviews the patient's chart, medical history and treatment plan and consent forms to identify any potential concerns for the dentist to consider. Turn all equipment on at the beginning of each day and turn off accordingly at the end of each day. Individual must exhibit professional urgency to seat patients on-time and complete appointment within the allotted time given. Accurately charts using the SOAP format and documents all notes pertaining to the patient during the exam and treatment set forth by the company guidelines. Educates every patient on steps throughout the appointment/procedure and reviews post-appointment protocols and documents accordingly. Communicates with parents/patients at the end of each visit to address concerns and answers treatment questions. Takes diagnostic x-rays and photos and displays those as needed. Takes impressions, pours, and fabricates specified product as needed and completing on-time. (Bleaching trays & study models.) Stocks drawers, cleans, and sets up/breaks down patient chairs daily. Must maintain a clean and sanitary workspace. Complete treatment plans immediately and give to check-out for financial arrangements and presenting of treatment plans. Follows all administrative procedures and policies to ensure consistent standards. Attends and participates in all office meetings, continuing education events and daily huddles. Other duties as assigned.
