This position is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, organizing, and preparing instruments and treatment rooms while ensuring compliance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines. The Sterilization Technician works closely with the clinical team to support exceptional patient care through efficient instrument management and operatory turnover. Key Responsibilities Clean, disinfect, package, sterilize, and store orthodontic instruments according to established protocols. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including ultrasonic cleaners and autoclaves. Monitor sterilization cycles and maintain accurate sterilization logs and biological testing records. Prepare instrument trays and supplies for scheduled patient procedures. Turn over treatment rooms quickly and thoroughly between patients. Restock operatories with instruments, materials, and supplies throughout the day. Maintain inventory of sterilization supplies and notify management when items need to be reordered. Dispose of biohazardous waste according to OSHA regulations. Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary clinical environment. Follow all infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and CDC guidelines. Support the clinical team with additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous dental or orthodontic experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate. Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures is preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and patient safety. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity required to handle instruments and equipment. Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
