Job Description

Immediate opening for a Full-time Dental Laboratory Tech to support Fort Campbell, located in Kentucky.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree or Certificate depending on the program - or - Certificate from Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training (METC), or evidence of 2 or more years as a lab technician accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a licensed dentist or previous dental laboratory employer. Successful completion of a 2-year program of study and training in dental lab techniques approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA) - or - High School diploma if certified through an Army, Air Force, or Navy Dental Laboratory Training (METC) program. Shall have at least two years dental laboratory experience in the section for which they are applying. Dental Laboratory Sections include General Laboratory, Removable Prosthodontics, Porcelain application (ceramist), Prosthesis finishing (metal and ceramic), and CAD-CAM (Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Manufacturing) Design and Milling
SPECIFIC TASKS
Serves as laboratory technician in a dental clinic. Performs the full range of technical work in the fabrication and repair of fixed and removable prostheses and models. Work requires a high degree of skill and precision, a working knowledge of the general contour of supporting tissues, and articulation of its application to the fabrication of appliances. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to, dental laboratory hand pieces, burnout ovens, porcelain ovens, casting machines, porcelain ovens, CAD/CAM (Computer- Assisted Design/Computer—Assisted Manufacturing) scanners, bench lathes, electric soldering machines, flame soldering machines, gas torches, vacuum spatulates, and precision model trimmers. Performs duties directly supporting one or more of the following dental laboratory product lines: Fixed Prosthesis. Reads, interprets, and applies requirements described in the dental prescription, designs and fabricates metal substructures for both porcelain and acrylic veneers, performing as a master of the art of dental ceramics and plastics, utilizing recognized techniques. Operates and provides instruction in the use of the most recent CAD/CAM technology to fabricate metal-free esthetic restorations. Skillfully and artistically sculpts materials into dental prostheses that duplicate esthetic, natural tooth conditions and satisfy the esthetic, functional, and anatomic requirements of the prescription. Fabricates porcelain veneers for crowns, fixed dental prostheses, implant restorations, and all-ceramic crowns through the application of appropriate ceramo-metal techniques. Fabricates restorations by casting and soldering the various metal components into the prescribed complex and intricately fits to casts and dies to include semi-precision attachments.
