Requirements and Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent. Must have prior kitchen experience. An Associate's degree in nutrition, health, diet, or a related field is a plus. Work-related experience is a plus. Excellent cooking skills and the ability to successfully operate cooking equipment. The ability to comply with sanitation regulations. Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc. Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training Strong computer and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare hot and cold foods and beverages for residents' meals as assigned by the Cook or Dietary Services Supervisor. Follow recipes and posted menus, for both regular, modified and therapeutic diets. Check carefully for allergies, food likes/dislikes, specific instructions and recheck items on tray with tray card to insure resident receives correct diet. Practice infection control policies and procedures of the department and facility. Review patients' dietary requirements and preferences and discussing them with Dieticians to develop healthy menus and nutritional care plans. Prepare and transport food trays and deliver them to patients. Portioning and serving of food items. Work on the tray line. Disposal of trash and recyclables. Wash dishes according to established procedures. Inspect special diet trays to ensure they comply with the dietary restrictions. Monitor patients' eating habits and reporting problems with swallowing, chewing, or loss of appetite. Assist the Cook with determining kitchen supplies and stock for the day, as well as checking and maintaining stock levels. Assist with cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas.
Physical Capacities:
(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices) Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which may include an annual TB screening and physical examination. Must be able to stand for and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds with assistance. Frequent pushing and pulling of carts, picking up boxes, etc Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Environmental Conditions:
Inside work, normal kitchen-based temperatures, noise, fumes and odors. Minimal potential of exposure to bodily fluids and/or blood borne pathogens.
