Job Description

Consulting Registered Dietitian (Independent Contractor) Happy Dietitian, LLC is a growing dietitian-owned consulting practice providing nutrition services to long-term care and senior living communities across Southern Maine. We are seeking a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) for a flexible, part-time independent contractor opportunity. This position is approximately 8 hours per week initially, with the potential to grow to up to 16 hours per week if desired , as well as opportunities for occasional vacation coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for an RD who enjoys working independently, values flexibility, and either has experience in long-term care or is interested in developing greater expertise in this area. Responsibilities Complete nutrition assessments and follow-up Complete MDS-related nutrition documentation Monitor significant weight changes and other nutrition risks Assess and monitor residents with wounds and pressure injuries Identify malnutrition and malnutrition risk and develop appropriate nutrition interventions Develop and communicate nutrition recommendations Collaborate with nursing, medical providers, dining services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team Maintain clear, timely, and clinically appropriate documentation Required Qualifications Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration Current Maine dietitian license in good standing Strong clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and reliably manage assigned responsibilities Preferred Qualifications Long-term care or skilled nursing experience Familiarity with MDS and long-term care regulatory requirements Experience with geriatric nutrition Experience with malnutrition identification and management Experience with nutrition interventions for wounds, pressure injuries, and significant weight changes Long-term care experience is preferred but not required. New graduates and early-career dietitians with strong clinical skills and an interest in long-term care are encouraged to apply. The right candidate will be supported in developing familiarity with long-term care practices, MDS requirements, and Happy Dietitian's clinical systems and expectations.
