Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate nutritional status, including diagnostic evaluation and physiological considerations. Develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate nutrition therapy, weight management strategies, and specialized interventions such as tube feeding. Provide expert counseling on nutrition topics including weight loss, dietary modifications, and health coaching to motivate sustainable lifestyle changes. Supervise and mentor junior staff or interns within the dietary department, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital or long-term care settings to coordinate patient care and optimize nutritional support. Manage the use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation of assessments, care plans, progress notes, and outcomes tracking. Educate patients and families about nutrition principles tailored to geriatrics, acute illness, or chronic conditions such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease. Oversee specialized nutritional services such as tube feeding management and dietary modifications for complex medical conditions. Stay current with advances in dietetics, physiology knowledge, and healthcare regulations to ensure best practices are maintained. Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the dietary department to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or a related field from an accredited institution. Current registration or licensure as a Registered Dietitian with relevant professional bodies. Proven experience in hospital settings with a focus on acute care, geriatrics, or long-term care environments. Demonstrated expertise in patient assessment techniques and development of effective nutrition care plans. Supervising experience preferred; ability to lead and mentor team members effectively. Strong knowledge of physiology as it relates to nutrition therapy and medical conditions requiring specialized interventions like tube feeding. Familiarity with EMR systems used for documentation and care coordination in healthcare facilities. Excellent communication skills for delivering health coaching sessions and educational programs to diverse patient populations. Experience with dietary department operations and implementing nutrition programs aimed at weight loss or chronic disease management is advantageous.
