Job Overview The Director of Nursing reports to Medical Director and Executive Director. Oversees nursing department, facilitates patient care, and works in conjunction with facility nurses, Medical Doctor, attending physicians and psychiatric NPs. Works with kitchen staff ensuring that all special diets are communicated.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care Hire and oversee nursing floor staff (10 - 12 FT positions, PT staff, and PRN staff) Administer medications (PO, IM, Subcutaneous, transdermal) as needed Oversee nursing staff to assure orders, charting, and prescriptions are accurately recorded and completed Coordinate communication with facility MD when required Medical intake assessments with new client admits when required Patient education in conjunction with MD Review labs, report out-of-range results including T-Spot results, and facilitate further action when necessary Obtain verbal orders from MD when required Oversee nursing staff to assure that prescription orders are faxed to appropriate pharmacies Works in conjunction with MD/NMD for client physicals, weekly assessments, and follow ups Oversee nursing staff to assure that documentation for all client assessments is completed (nursing notes, progress notes, patient education, vitals, systems assessments, etc.) Reviews and audits medication logs on a weekly basis Knowledge of how to document on a medication log (MAR) In service/train staff on medication education, vitals, and what to do in an emergency situation Arrange and facilitate Monthly nurse meetings Update MAR's and patient status forms/progress notes as required Maintain compliance logs Maintain competency logs Communicate effectively with HR, both verbally and in writing, regarding staff disputes or disciplinary issues Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Proven experience in school experience or education administration with a strong background in healthcare management within educational settings preferred. Extensive management skills with a track record of staff supervision, team leadership, and personnel management in education or healthcare environments. Deep understanding of state-specific education laws related to health services and licensing requirements for nursing professionals. Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, organizational budget management, and instructional leadership in education or healthcare sectors. Strong background in university or higher education settings is advantageous for fostering academic leadership within health programs. Exceptional leadership abilities combined with excellent communication skills to motivate teams and collaborate across departments. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree or higher in Nursing or Healthcare Administration strongly preferred; valid RN license required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delegation to Nurses and BHT's within their scope of practice. Hire, train and oversee all nursing staff. Create a monthly schedule. Order all required supplies. Maintain facility, state, and JCAHO standards of care.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

A college Degree in Nursing (ASN accepted, BSN preferred)- Licensed Registered Nurse NCLEX Certified At least one year experience in an equivalent position Must present good communication skills, both verbal and written Must have knowledge of recovery and addictions Must have knowledge of psychiatric conditions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse NCLEX certified, with a college degree in nursing (ASN or BSN).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must have reasonable ability to do the following: Stand, walk, and sit during assigned shift hours. Have the ability to manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands. Be able to manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam. Reach, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Speak and have access to the special senses within normal limits (hear, taste, smell, etc.) as it applies to patient care. Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds.

Pay:

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
