About the Role We are seeking an experienced and dependable Director of Nursing (DON) to provide clinical leadership and oversee nursing operations at our outpatient surgery center. The Director of Nursing will work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and leadership to support safe, high-quality patient care and ensure the facility follows all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who communicates clearly, supports their team, and is comfortable managing the day-to-day clinical operations of a fast-paced surgical environment. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight of nursing and clinical staff. Oversee daily clinical operations and help ensure safe, efficient patient care. Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, accreditation, and facility requirements. Develop, review, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and clinical standards. Support infection prevention, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives. Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, education, and support as needed. Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of clinical staff. Ensure staff maintain required licenses, certifications, competencies, and training. Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, administration, and other departments to support patient care and facility operations. Promote professional, respectful, and effective communication among staff. Address clinical concerns and escalate patient safety or compliance issues as appropriate. Participate in audits, inspections, surveys, and accreditation activities. Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and ensure nursing practices meet established standards. Assist with emergency preparedness and ensure staff are familiar with applicable emergency procedures. Support inventory and appropriate use of clinical supplies and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the facility. Qualifications Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Previous nursing leadership, supervisory, or management experience required. Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital surgical department, operating room, or similar clinical setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of clinical standards, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment. Current BLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility needs. English and Spanish language proficiency preferred.
