This role ensures the highest quality of resident care while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The DON serves as a leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff while promoting a culture of compassion, accountability, and clinical excellence. Responsibilities Direct and supervise all nursing services within the facility. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing staff. Monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Oversee resident assessments, care planning, and clinical documentation. Collaborate with physicians, department managers, residents, and families to ensure quality care. Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and nursing department budgets. Investigate and resolve resident, family, and staff concerns. Maintain survey readiness and implement corrective action plans when necessary. Promote a positive, resident-centered culture throughout the facility. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois required. Previous Director of Nursing or nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred. Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and develop a high-performing clinical team. Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered care.
