Assistant Director of Nursing - Shawnee Senior Living Shawnee Senior Living is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our dedicated team. The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing to plan, organize, and oversee the nursing department to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled nurse looking to make a significant impact in the long-term care field.
Key Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Director of Nursing to manage and direct the overall operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans that prioritize resident needs and deliver exceptional quality of care. Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff, ensuring they provide the best possible care for our residents. Monitor the quality of nursing care through routine rounds, reviewing nurse's notes and ensuring compliance with care protocols and regulations. Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of nursing staff. Assist in resolving issues and concerns related to resident care and nursing staff. Lead educational and training programs to support ongoing staff development and ensure the department maintains high standards of care. Ensure that all residents' health records and care documentation are accurate, complete, and timely. Oversee medication administration, treatment schedules, and monitor changes in resident conditions, keeping families and physicians informed as necessary. Collaborate with other departments, attend meetings, and participate in facility-wide initiatives to continuously improve resident care and facility operations.
Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with an active, unencumbered license to practice in the State of Illinois. Minimum of 1 year of experience in nursing service administration or leadership. Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain within two weeks of employment. Strong understanding of nursing and medical practices, with the ability to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory standards. Ability to lead a team, make independent decisions, and foster a collaborative, compassionate work environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with residents, families, and team members. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and lift/push/pull equipment or residents in excess of 50 lbs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout the facility, assisting in different areas as needed. General good health, with the physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
