Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with state regulations and facility policies. The ADON will collaborate with the Director of Nursing (DON) to enhance nursing services, promote staff development, and ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to foster a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing nursing services.
  • Oversee the daily operations of nursing staff to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing nursing care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, protocols, and educational programs.
  • Supervise nursing staff, including nurse managers, nurses, and nursing assistants, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct regular staff performance evaluations and assist in training and development.
  • Assist in budget management and resource allocation for the nursing department.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Address patient and family concerns regarding care and services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    LVN Required
  • Licensure:
    Current, valid LVN license in the State of Texas.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 1 years in a supervisory or leadership role in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification:
  • CPR and First Aid certification required; additional nursing certifications preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technologies.
  • Problem-solving orientation with a focus on quality improvement.
Working Conditions:
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours in addition to standard business hours.
  • Potential exposure to various health hazards typical in a healthcare environment.
