We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and results-driven Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead our in-house therapy department. This leadership role is ideal for a clinician who is committed to excellence, team development, and delivering high-quality rehabilitative care in a long-term care setting. Position Summary The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for the overall leadership, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, staffing, and operational success of the rehabilitation department. Working closely with nursing leadership, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, the DOR ensures residents receive individualized therapy services that maximize function, independence, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee the daily operations of the in-house rehabilitation department. Supervise, mentor, and develop Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), and rehabilitation aides. Promote a collaborative culture between therapy, nursing, physicians, and other departments. Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, CMS regulations, PDPM requirements, and state guidelines. Monitor clinical outcomes, therapy utilization, productivity, and quality indicators. Participate in admissions, care conferences, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary team meetings. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation. Manage staffing schedules, department budgets, equipment, and supplies. Recruit, onboard, train, and retain high-performing rehabilitation professionals. Lead quality improvement initiatives and prepare for state and federal surveys. Foster a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and resident satisfaction. Qualifications Current state license as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). Minimum of 3 years of rehabilitation experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting. Previous rehabilitation management or leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of Medicare Part A and Part B, PDPM, reimbursement guidelines, and rehabilitation regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
