Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead and oversee our rehabilitation department in a Long-Term Care/Skilled Nursing Facility. The ideal candidate will be a licensed therapy professional with strong clinical, leadership, and operational experience in a post-acute or long-term care setting. The Director of Rehabilitation will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality therapy services while managing department operations, staff performance, regulatory compliance, productivity, and clinical outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and daily oversight of the rehabilitation department, including Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services. Supervise, mentor, and support therapy staff to promote clinical excellence and strong team performance. Manage therapy schedules, staffing levels, caseloads, and departmental productivity. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, facility, and company regulations and standards. Monitor documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, PDPM, and other applicable reimbursement requirements. Collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, MDS team, and interdisciplinary care team to support resident outcomes and facility goals. Participate in care planning meetings and communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Monitor clinical outcomes, quality measures, therapy utilization, and department performance. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management of rehabilitation staff. Maintain a strong focus on customer service, resident satisfaction, and quality of care. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance department efficiency and performance. Qualifications Current professional license as a Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) , as applicable to state requirements. Previous Director of Rehabilitation or rehabilitation leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care setting strongly preferred . Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, PDPM, MDS processes, therapy documentation, and regulatory requirements. Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on quality care and operational performance. Experience with therapy productivity, staffing, scheduling, and clinical outcomes preferred.
