Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented GI/Endoscopy Technician to join our Gastroenterology team. The GI/Endo Tech assists physicians and nursing staff during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures by preparing procedure rooms, handling specialized equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in endoscopy equipment, infection prevention, and reprocessing standards while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
Prepare procedure rooms for gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly. Assist physicians during procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), flexible sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, EUS, bronchoscopy, and other endoscopic procedures as applicable. Position and prepare patients before procedures while maintaining privacy and comfort. Operate and troubleshoot endoscopy equipment and accessories. Clean, disinfect, and reprocess flexible endoscopes according to manufacturer instructions and infection prevention guidelines. Perform leak testing, manual cleaning, high-level disinfection (HLD), drying, storage, and documentation of endoscope reprocessing. Monitor and maintain inventory of endoscopy instruments, accessories, and medical supplies. Collect, label, and transport biopsy specimens according to facility protocols. Maintain accurate procedure documentation and equipment logs. Follow infection control, OSHA, CDC, SGNA, and facility safety standards. Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and sterile processing staff to ensure efficient workflow. Assist with patient transport and room turnover between procedures.
