GI Endoscopy Lead Tech Job Type/Hours per Week Full Time/ 30 hours per week Salary Salary depends on education and relevant experience. Hiring Department Gi Lab Endoscopy Location This position is located at the UT Tyler Health Science Center campus. Job Summary Processes and maintains endoscopy scopes. Maintains records of sterilization processes. Assist Physician and nurses during endoscopy procedures. Operates endoscopy equipment. Maintains inventory par levels, and places stores order as needed. Restock as needed. Adheres to internal controls established for the department. Understands and adheres to all accreditation guidelines recognized by UT Health Northeast. Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and values of UT Health Northeast. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Performs a variety of patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse. Safely assists physician in advanced procedures (ERCP, EUS) Maintain annual competency from the scope manufacturer on cleaning, processing, and care of scopes. Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies. Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning. Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements. Clean, disinfect, or calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards. Maintain or repair endoscopic equipment. Position or transport patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel. Assist physicians or registered nurses in the conduct of endoscopic procedures. Attend in-service training to refresh basic professional skills. Gives support to other areas and cross-trains in Central Sterile. Maintains good telephone etiquette and communication skills. Adheres to internal controls established for the department. Responsible for acquiring working knowledge of and maintaining ongoing understanding of required practices, procedures, and processes to meet and exceed regulatory compliance standards. Other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Two (2) years' experience in a hospital setting in either patient care or equipment cleaning/sterilization/maintenance area Preferred Education/Experience Gl experience preferred. CRCST Certification preferred. Required Certifications/Licenses Must be able to obtain and maintain current BLS certification. Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Knowledge of different types of instruments used in the Endoscopy Lab. Knowledge of equipment used in Sterile Processing and Processing of Surgical Instruments. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work Ability to work as a team member and follow instructions from team leaders, ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information. Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner. Knowledge of aseptic technique Medical terminology. Bilingual a plus.
