Full Job Description Overview:
Inspiring Communities is a nonprofit organization that helps people live healthier lives. We provide health education, connect people to healthcare and community resources, and help reduce health disparities in our community. Position Summary As a Health Navigator/Health Educator, you will receive training to become a Lifestyle Coach and lead Prediabetes and Diabetes Management classes. You will also receive supervised work experience hours toward Community Health Worker (CHW) certification You will work closely with African American/Black residents in Richmond to help them improve their health and connect to healthcare, social services, and community resources. You will provide outreach, health education, and one-on-one support to help people overcome barriers that make it difficult to stay healthy. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others, building relationships, and making a positive impact in the community. This is a 12-month, grant-funded independent contractor position. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for a trusted member of the Richmond community who cares about helping others.
The ideal candidate:
Has strong connections to the Richmond community, especially African American/Black communities. Enjoys working with people and building relationships. Is passionate about improving community health and wellness. Can connect people to services and resources that meet their needs. Is comfortable talking with people one-on-one and in group settings. Wants to help reduce health disparities and improve access to care.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour

High school or equivalent (Preferred)
