Therapeutic Yoga Coach Better Days Integrated Programs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works toward a world where behavioral health disorders are not a limit to achieving a meaningful life in the community. Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Therapeutic Yoga Coach provides trauma-informed yoga instruction for both adult and youth participants while supporting the overall goals of the Therapeutic Yoga Program. The Therapeutic Yoga Coach is responsible for leading individualized and group yoga sessions that integrate mindfulness, breathwork, movement, grounding techniques, and emotional regulation practices to promote physical, emotional, and mental wellness. Coaches receive specialized training in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and therapeutic interventions to ensure a safe, inclusive, and healing environment for participants. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work collaboratively with licensed Therapists during individual and group therapeutic sessions. Document participant progress after each session according to agency standards. Develop and implement individualized and group therapeutic yoga sessions based on participant goals and abilities. Teach yoga postures, breathing techniques (pranayama), mindfulness practices, stretching, relaxation, and grounding exercises. Modify poses and activities to accommodate participants with varying physical abilities, behavioral health needs, developmental disabilities, or medical limitations. Maintain participant attendance records. Set up and break down equipment and prepare the therapeutic space before and after sessions. Ensure a safe, supportive, and trauma-sensitive environment during all activities. Follow all agency health, safety, confidentiality, and program policies. Extensive travel is an essential function of this position. Additional Responsibilities Contact and maintain ongoing communication with participants and families via phone. Make introductory calls to establish rapport and schedule services. Confirm appointments and attendance. Notify participants of schedule changes. Instruct participants in safe movement, body awareness, flexibility, balance, posture, breathing, and stress-reduction techniques. Monitor participant engagement and adapt instruction to individual therapeutic needs. Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment that promotes emotional safety and personal growth. Maintain prompt and regular attendance. Organize and facilitate group wellness classes and individualized therapeutic sessions. Monitor participants while enforcing safety guidelines and program expectations. Assemble and disassemble yoga equipment including mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, chairs, and other adaptive equipment. Maintain equipment and therapeutic spaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Assist in determining equipment and supply needs for programming activities. Build positive relationships with community partners, schools, referral agencies, and healthcare providers to promote wellness programming. Participate in staff meetings, clinical consultation, training, and quality improvement activities. Work collaboratively with co-workers and organizational staff while demonstrating excellent customer service. Perform all duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Better Days Integrated Programs. Required Training To ensure competency in therapeutic practices incorporated into coaching services, each Therapeutic Yoga Coach must complete and maintain annual certification or training in the following areas: Trauma-Informed Yoga Practices Therapeutic Yoga Instruction Mindfulness and Meditation Techniques Breathwork and Nervous System Regulation Grounding and Emotional Regulation Techniques Trauma-Informed Care Mandated Child Abuse Reporting Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Training (Annually) Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required) Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200 or higher) through Yoga Alliance or equivalent certification (Preferred) Trauma-Informed Yoga Certification (Preferred) First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens Certification; or ability to obtain within six months of employment Experience teaching yoga to diverse populations (Preferred) Bi-lingual Spanish speaking (Preferred) Valid Driver's License (Required) U.S. Work Authorization (Required) Applicants who demonstrate a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position may also be considered. Required Skills Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to create a calm, welcoming, and emotionally safe environment. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and participant-centered instruction. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Excellent organizational, time management, and self-management skills. Strong documentation and computer skills. Ability to establish priorities and work independently. Ability to adapt yoga practices for individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral health challenges. Ability to develop individualized wellness plans that complement clinical treatment goals. Preferred Skills Experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or learning disabilities. Experience working in schools, nonprofit organizations, or community-based behavioral health programs. Experience supporting adults with mental health disorders, trauma histories, and substance use recovery. Experience facilitating mindfulness groups, meditation, restorative yoga, chair yoga, adaptive yoga, or somatic movement. Experience completing detailed, timely clinical documentation.
