SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATOR

Rockville United Church seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Needs Educator or Paraeducator who would be consistently available for 2 hours on Sunday mornings (10:30 am to 12:30 pm) to assist volunteer Sunday School teachers as needed. The special educator is expected to build strong relationships with all students and take the lead in ensuring that children who learn differently—whether due to autism, learning styles, or behavioral needs—receive appropriate accommodations. Education, training, or experience in special education is required. Together with the Senior Pastor, the Special Needs Educator will provide leadership as a resource to other teachers and offer teaching strategies that best fit the needs of a wide range of elementary school aged children with varying abilities in small inclusive classroom settings. The Special Needs Educator reports to the Senior Pastor and will work closely with the Chair of the Faith Formation Committee. The Special Needs Educator will be required to agree to a national background checks and to sign the church Policy for Prevention of Sexual Misconduct and Abuse, as a condition of hire.
