Health Educator

Job Description

The Tuscola County Health Department is seeking a full-time Health Educator. This position works in various programs under the supervision of the Health Officer.
Job duties include:
  • Conducts prevention education presentations in and around the community.
  • Assumes responsibility for implementing and supervising special projects.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care and revises plan, as necessary.
  • Attends community and interagency meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Assists with assurance that program is in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Provides input into grant development and may assist in grant preparation.
  • Prepares progress reports and other records.
  • Attends required meetings, seminars, in-service training, workshops, etc.; reads journals, books, and other industry publications to remain current on latest techniques; participates in community/interagency health related projects.
  • Performs program specific job responsibilities as outlined in Division Policy and Procedure Manuals.
  • Networks with various agencies as a resource person.
  • Provides services to individuals (adults/adolescents), families, and groups.
  • Interacts and cooperates with Court, school personnel, social workers, probation officers, and other agencies.
  • Assists with program planning.
  • Completes required paperwork such as forms, reports, and case files; maintains files and filing systems.
  • Attends a variety of meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.; reads industry publications to keep current on latest practices, techniques, and methods.
  • Performs program specific job responsibilities as outlined in Division Policy and Procedure Manuals.
  • Complies with
MIOSHA, OSHA, HIPAA
(as applicable) and other regulations that pertain to the agency.
  • Perform Emergency Response roles as required.
  • Performs other related essential duties as required.
Participates in any Quality Improvement processes as required.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Education, or related field plus relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Requirements:
Possess a valid MI driver's license without limitations. Preferred CHES Certification or ability to acquire within one year of hire date. Working knowledge of social media and virtual platforms A drug test will be required.
