Short Description The Life Support Training Center Instructor is responsible for instructing students within the area they are certified adhering to the guidelines of the American Heart Association and Cooper University Hospital's Life Support Training Center. Responsible for setup and breakdown of all instructional material and decontamination of equipment when necessary. Analysis of student performance and competency depending on course requirements. Teaches a minimum of two courses per year within their area of expertise. Experience Required Instructors need to demonstrate mastery in all skills for the courses they teach. Instructors need to teach AHA materials correctly and as outlines in the appropriate Instructor Manual and Lesson Maps. Instructors must be able to test students effectively and maintain a high standard of ethics and professionalism when teaching AHA courses. Instructors need to be able to manage time, space, materials, and paperwork in compliance with American Heart Association guidelines. Education Requirements
HIGH SCHOOL OR GED
License/Certification Requirements BLS Certified by the American Heart Association as an instructor in one or more of the following:
ACLS, PALS, NRP.
Special Requirements It is required that AHA instructors be at least 16 years of age for BLS Instructor courses. ACLS and PALS Instructors must be at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified in a healthcare occupation where the skills are within the provider's scope of practice.
