Position Summary:

Health Educator (HE) is responsible for planning and implementing wellness programs in Hudson County area schools and local communities aimed at improving wellness and lowering risk for suicide, HIV/STI, teen pregnancy, substance use, and bullying among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) youth. The HE works with the Director of Youth Services (DYS) to establish alliances with organizations that have similar or allied goals, such as school boards, local law enforcement, healthcare providers, community centers, and service providers, answering their general inquiries about the Partners In Prevention (PIP) program and services and maintaining communication with potential participants, supporting them through the scheduling/application process. The HE works with HPC's DYS and Director of Training and Education (DTE) to ensure PIP programming content is accurate, current and evidence-based. The HE also directly provides the bulk of LGBTQ+ focused wellness and risk-reduction training, webinars, and workshops of the PIP program, working with the DYS and DTE to identify and recruit consultants with other content expertise areas, as needed. The HE is involved in all Quality Management activities of the Partners In Prevention Program, ensuring fidelity of all implemented evidence-based prevention services and curricula of the PIP program and assisting in the programmatic data collection, reporting, continuous quality improvement processes, and evaluation of all services delivered under the

NJ4S PIP

program. Activities will be delivered at public schools throughout Hudson County, at HPC's offices in Jersey City and Union City, and at other community locations/events etc.

Responsibilities:

The Health Educator (HE) will be responsible for developing and delivering LGBTQ+ affirming trainings and workshops that address emerging youth mental health trends. In this role, the HE will collaborate with school districts, consultants, and community service providers to coordinate and facilitate trainings, webinars, assemblies, and other educational events. The position also includes responsibility for collecting and analyzing program data, preparing reports, implementing continuous quality improvement processes, and evaluating the effectiveness of services provided to students. In addition, the HE will help facilitate evening and weekend support groups for both LGBTQ+ youth and their parents and will work closely with the Director of Youth Services and the Youth Program Coordinators to strengthen and support all youth and family programs offered under YouthConnect at Hudson Pride Center. Key Responsibilities Program Planning & Prevention Education

• Work with the Youth Program Team to assess LGBTQ+ youth needs and to communicate with youth stakeholders to gain community support for the provision of culturally relevant LGBTQ+ wellness/prevention programming in Hudson County schools and other locations
• Consult school staff on student, school, and district needs in relation to NJ4S Partners In Prevention objectives, student mental health, and prevention best practices to help HPC develop both the initial Partners In Prevention Program curricula and a local menu of LGBTQ-affirming prevention services for Hudson County LGBTQ+ youth
• Work with the YC Team & the DTE to ensure information provided during community and school presentations is accurate, evidence-based, and current
• Assist DYS in creating an effective process to provide PIP Program services, as well as to promote and market PIP Program services to ensure it reaches Hudson County's LGBTQ+ youth population
• Provide evidence-based wellness/prevention programming at local Hudson County schools, other community locations, and at HPC offices in Jersey City and Union City, with a focus on LGBTQ+ youth needs, issues, services, and populations Referral Coordination & Training Development
• Facilitate referrals/linkages of Partners In Prevention Program participants to HPC's YouthConnect (YC) Program or other social and health providers and services as needed, both at HPC and in the community
• Develop training and educational content, including PowerPoint and other presentation materials, that is research-informed, culturally responsive, and tailored to the needs of LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Documentation, Evaluation & Quality Improvement
• Collect formal and informal evaluative feedback after each delivered workshop/training to help optimize service impact
• Verify and document the eligibility of those receiving PIP Program services in accordance with grant requirements Community Partnerships & Collaboration
• Collaborate with other agencies to connect LGBTQ+ youth with appropriate LGBTQ+ affirming youth services and youth-serving providers as appropriate
• Recruit community leaders and members (including LGBTQ+ youth and parents) to serve on Grantee's regional advisory team and Hudson County NJ4S Advisory Group
• Participate in meetings with the grantee and other Partners In Prevention contractors to review progress and actively participate in the Hudson County NJ4S Advisory Group Reporting & Program Participation
• Participate in all training, evaluation, and/or other activities required by the Grantee
• Maintain required files, with pertinent data, on all programs as required by Grantee
• Participate in weekly youth program staff meetings with DYS to review and monitor monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals, as well as the all-staff weekly meeting
• Provide all Grantee-required aggregate data to DYS and assist with the writing of monthly and quarterly progress reports, as well as the annual reports Community Representation & Group Facilitation
• Represent Hudson Pride Center, through oral and written communications, during both routine community contacts and at assigned meetings or other events.
• Co-Facilitate weekly support group meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned by the DYS, DTE, and/or Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have extensive experience working with and empowering at-risk LGBTQ+ youth and other marginalized communities by conducting prevention education (e.g., substance abuse, pregnancy prevention, mental health, and well-being sessions, etc.) activities.

• Bachelor's Degree in a human services-related field (e.g., social work, counseling, public health, education, etc.); experience in the provision of prevention-related programs required.
• Experience in community organizing, developing community partnerships, implementing evidence-based programs, and project management.
• Preferred candidates will be able to document at least: o three (3) years of experience working in a social service environment implementing evidence-based practice models (one of which can be experience gained during graduate internships).

o three (3) years' work experience with LGBTQ+ populations (one of which can be experience gained during a graduate internship) o three (3) years' work experience addressing youth-related issues in individual or group format delivery modalities (two of which can be experience gained during graduate internships) o three (3) years' work experience in community-based social service or school settings (two of which can be experience gained during graduate internships)

• Extensive knowledge of LGBTQ+ youth issues, including health disparities, coming out, mental health concerns, and school bullying
• Demonstrated knowledge of HIV and STI prevention strategies
• Demonstrated knowledge of suicide prevention and substance use prevention methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
• Functional knowledge of managing databases and social media
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Self-identified passion for members of marginalized communities
• Reliable vehicle to travel throughout New Jersey
• Must be a team player
• Written and spoken fluency in Spanish is a plus Working Conditions Primarily office-based with regular travel between Hudson Pride Center locations and travel throughout New Jersey for meetings, trainings, outreach activities, conferences, community events, advocacy activities, and organizational functions.

This position requires a flexible schedule, including frequent evening and weekend work to support community events, fundraising activities, outreach initiatives, trainings, and organizational programming. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, and assist with event setup, breakdown, transportation of materials, and other event-related needs. Hours This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. Work hours will vary based on organizational needs and regularly include daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. Flexibility is required to support community events, outreach activities, trainings, fundraising initiatives, and organizational functions throughout the year. Location This position supports both Hudson Pride Center office locations in Jersey City and Union City. Regular travel throughout New Jersey is required. A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are required. Mileage for work-related travel is reimbursed in accordance with organizational policy.
