This is a dedicated instructional position focused on classroom education, hands-on skill development, course preparation, and training documentation. The instructor will not be routinely assigned to standby rescue projects, outage safety coverage, or other operational field assignments. This separation ensures the instructor remains available to maintain the published training schedule, prepare upcoming programs, and meet client training needs without interruption. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned health and safety courses in accordance with applicable OSHA requirements, recognized industry standards, manufacturer instructions, and SCS-approved curriculum.
• Conduct classroom instruction, demonstrations, practical exercises, and student evaluations.
• Prepare classrooms, training areas, equipment, audiovisual materials, and student handouts before each course.
• Review and maintain familiarity with the regulations, standards, and accepted practices applicable to the courses being taught.
• Ensure course content is presented accurately, consistently, and at a level appropriate for the audience.
• Evaluate student participation, knowledge, and practical performance using written examinations, skills assessments, and instructor observation.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, evaluations, course documentation, equipment inspection records, and certification information.
• Submit completed training records to the appropriate SCS administrative personnel within established timeframes.
• Inspect, organize, and maintain training equipment and promptly report damaged, missing, or unserviceable items.
• Assist with developing, reviewing, and improving SCS training materials, lesson plans, presentations, assessments, and practical exercises.
• Provide professional guidance to students and clients regarding the application of course material to workplace conditions.
• Communicate training needs, scheduling concerns, student performance issues, and client feedback to SCS management.
• Maintain a professional instructional environment and represent SCS appropriately when working at client facilities.
• Complete continuing education, instructor development, and refresher training necessary to maintain assigned teaching credentials.

Instructional Assignments The instructor may teach courses for which they have been approved and authorized by SCS, including, but not limited to: OSHA general industry topics Confined space entry Fall protection Hazard communication Lockout/tagout Respiratory protection Personal protective equipment Powered industrial trucks Fire prevention and hot work First aid, CPR, and AED Other health and safety programs within the instructor's qualifications Assignment to a course does not automatically authorize the instructor to issue a certification or credential. The instructor must possess any required instructor authorization, certification, experience, or subject-matter qualification before independently delivering that course. This position is dedicated to training and instructional support. The Health and Safety Training Instructor will not be included in the normal rotation for:

• Standby confined-space rescue coverage
• Rescue team staffing
• Outage safety coverage
• Fire watch or hole watch assignments
• General temporary labor assignments
• Routine project safety staffing
• Other field assignments that could interfere with scheduled training responsibilities Any limited field observation or site visit must have a defined training-related purpose, such as evaluating workplace conditions, gathering information for course development, or maintaining practical familiarity with the work being taught.

Emergency or exceptional operational assignments require management approval and should not be made when doing so would cancel, delay, or reduce the quality of scheduled training. Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and the subjects assigned.
• Previous experience delivering classroom or hands-on instruction is preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical and regulatory information clearly to students with varying levels of experience.
• Ability to lead practical exercises and objectively evaluate student performance.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Ability to use presentation software, audiovisual equipment, and standard office applications.
• Current instructor credentials or certifications required for assigned courses.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to SCS and client training locations.
• Ability to safely lift, move, set up, and operate the equipment used during assigned training programs.

Physical and Work Requirements The position may require standing for extended periods, speaking to groups, working indoors or outdoors, climbing stairs or ladders, wearing personal protective equipment, and demonstrating safety equipment or work practices. Some travel and occasional overnight stays may be required based on the training schedule. Reporting Relationship The Health and Safety Training Instructor reports to the Training Manager or other designated member of SCS management. Pay:

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
