Community Prevention Educator

Job Description

Summary of Position:
The Community Prevention Educator delivers evidence-based prevention education and early intervention programs in schools and the community, promoting healthy decision-making, substance use prevention, and positive youth development throughout Dutchess County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver prevention education presentations in schools, colleges, community organizations, and businesses. Facilitate programs including Blindspots, Gaming vs.
Gambling, SAFE Rx, Vaping Myths and Facts, Teen Driving:
A Family Affair, Alive at 25, and Teen Intervene. Facilitate evidence-based prevention and early intervention programs within Dutchess County school districts, including Teen Intervene and Too Good for Drugs Represent CAPE at community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and prevention initiatives. Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, municipalities, healthcare providers, and community organizations. Coordinate outreach efforts and public awareness campaigns focused on prevention and wellness. Collect program data, maintain records, and complete required grant and agency reports. Develop educational materials and presentations using current prevention best practices. Provide information and referrals to appropriate community resources when necessary. Assist with special projects and community prevention initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Communications, or a related field. Experience in prevention education, community outreach, health promotion, or youth development preferred. Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Valid driver license and reliable transportation. Prevention credential or willingness to obtain preferred.
