JOB PURPOSE
The Wellness Center Staff member supports members in achieving their health and fitness goals by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming fitness environment and providing basic instruction on equipment use. This role delivers excellent member service while enforcing safety standards and YMCA policies. Staff serve as positive representatives of the YMCA's mission and contribute to a supportive, inclusive wellness culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(not a complete list): Greet members in a friendly, professional manner and provide consistent, high-quality customer serviceMaintain a clean, safe, and organized Wellness Center, including equipment, floors, and fitness desk areasInstruct members on the safe and proper use of exercise equipmentEnforce Wellness Center rules and YMCA policies consistently and respectfullyMonitor the fitness floor to ensure participant safety and equipment readinessReport equipment issues, member concerns, or incidents to the supervisor in a timely mannerMaintain order throughout the shift, including racking weights and resetting the fitness floorMaintain familiarity with YMCA programs and services and direct members to appropriate resources.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.
Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.
Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.
Abide by the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility.
