CPR Full Job Description Position Summary:
Provide quality instruction of aerobic and fitness classes in accordance with YMCA standards and guidelines. Encourage participants using energy and enthusiasm.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned Provide enjoyable, high quality class instruction. Appropriately demonstrate and instruct proper exercise in accordance with program standards. Responsible for the health and safety of all individuals in the fitness area, i.e. caution regarding unsafe practices and conditions and perform rescue/ first aid when necessary. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports. Set up and break down equipment as necessary. Find coverage for self in the event of an absence and then notify the Program Director of the change. Responsible for attending staff meetings/events. Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA. Provide encouragement during class instruction while being enthusiastic and positive representative of the YMCA. Be a member service ambassador, remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules; being prepared to provide personalized direction to other YMCA services. Continually enhance professional development through additional certification trainings, work shops, educational courses and/or appropriate reading material. Communicate with members, make them feel welcome and address them by name. Construct group classes in accordance with national guidelines.
Qualifications:

Experience:
High School (GED) preferred 1-3 years experience
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to anticipate, identify and address members needs to ensure safety and enjoyment. To accurately complete all required paperwork. To professionally handle and or get help to resolve conflict. Ability to follow instructions as given and/or directed by supervisor. Certifications /
Training:
CPR (In-house)/ AED First Aid (Outreach) Principles of Health and Wellness (Within 3 months of hire) Group Exercise Instructor Certification (Within 6 months of hire) Foundations of YMCA Strength & Conditioning Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise YMCA Cardio and Step Aerobics Instructor
