Job Description:
Summary The Texas School Ready (TSR) Coach supports classroom implementation to promote pre-K readiness and must utilize various strategies, such as coaching, co-teaching, instructional planning, and reflective feedback, with provided training. Collaboration with Children Learning Institute (CLI) staff to maintain TSR Comprehensive model fidelity is required, along with the willingness to travel for coaching, trainings, and meetings. The coach is expected to work year-round for a minimum of 240 workdays. Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
  • Work with CLI to support the management of project expenditures.
  • Attend and complete all CLI training.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development as required for the implementation of the project (e.g. ITELG training, eCIRCLE facilitation, progress monitoring training, curriculum training, administrators training, etc.)
  • Participate in training opportunities that may require videotaping of coaching practices and interactions with educators in the classroom.
  • Support educators with the implementation of instructional strategies as outlined in the eCIRCLE professional development classes as well as the Classroom Observation Tool.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop lesson plans and daily schedules that reflect a minimum of 3 hours of cognitive instruction.
  • Assist educators in understanding progress monitoring data reports and providing classroom instruction based on these reports.
  • Provide coaching support to educators as required. Use various coaching strategies, including video reflection, to improve educator quality. Meet with the educator after each classroom visit for a minimum of 20 minutes to encourage educator reflection and set goals.
  • Use required coaching tools (e.g., Classroom Environment Checklist, Classroom Observation Tool) to monitor educator's progress and to set goals for improvement.
  • Provide educators with written feedback (Short Term Goal Report) after each classroom visit.
  • Work in collaboration with CLI to order, ensure delivery, and inventory eductor/classroom materials.
  • Collect, update, track, and manage school, classroom, class, educator, and child data.
  • Attend and participate in required conference calls hosted by CLI, including collaborative peer viewing and discussion of own video-recorded coaching practices for coaches and coordinators.
  • Participate in required, ongoing coaching PLC for professional development. Submit coaching samples for peer learning and to earn badges in specific coaching behaviors on an ongoing basis, leading towards a coaching certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Education
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood or related field required. Advanced degree preferred. Experience and Knowledge
  • Three years' experience teaching infants, toddlers, pre-K, or K-1st.
  • Three years' experience training or coaching adults
  • Use of research-based pre-kindergarten literacy, language, numeracy, science materials and instructional strategies.
  • Understanding of pre-school literacy screening and progress monitoring and how each informs classroom instruction.
  • Understanding of Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, Texas Infant, Toddler, and Three-Year-Old Early Learning Guidelines, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes, and Child Care Regulation standards.
  • Experience in working with varied groups to achieve integration of early childhood services.
  • Working knowledge of technology (internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, videotaping, uploading documents/videos, etc. Other Requirements
  • Must pass a national criminal history criminal background record information review and be fingerprinted. Mental Demands
  • Most duties are varied and regularly require analysis, comprehension, or limited judgment and discretion. Some of the duties may not conform to standard practices, requiring analysis and interpretation to resolve problems.
  • Requires continuous concentration, alertness, and attention to detail.
  • Requires an intermediate to advanced level of reading and writing. Physical Demand Classification Light to Medium (Occasionally lifts up 25 pounds) Physical and Communication Demands
  • Constant (67-100%): Standing, driving, walking, forward reaching, hearing, vision, talking with child care providers and staff, and receiving and responding to verbal and written requests of child care providers.
  • Frequent (34-66%): Sitting, grasping, bending, squatting, kneeling, talking on the telephone, receiving verbal and written instructions, and talking with co-workers.
  • Occasional (1-33%): Lifting from ground to waist height up to 25 pounds, carrying (10 to 15 feet) up to 25 pounds, stooping, crouching, twisting, side bending, overhead reach, hearing, and reading. Description of Tasks
Lifting/Carrying:
Occasional lifting/carrying is required when the coach is assisting in child care providers' indoor and outdoor environments, rearrangement and inventory of materials and equipment delivered to child care providers. Force pounds were estimated to be up to 25.
    Sitting:
    Coach sits frequently at a workstation or desk.
      Standing/Walking:
      Alternate standing and walking is performed constantly when providing on-site coaching.
        Climbing:
        Climbing is performed when the coach needs to climb onto a step stool to reach items on shelves, cabinets, or the ceiling.
          Bending/Stooping/Crouching:
          Forward torso bending, stooping, and crouching may be the preference of the coach when reaching or material handling at lowered work surfaces, and/or reaching for items on the lower shelves.
            Squatting/Kneeling:
            These techniques can be used by the coach when performing lifting, carrying, or with position tolerance tasks. Squatting/kneeling can be applied up to 1/3 of the workday. Schedule Approximately 8 hours per day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a 1-hour lunch break unless arrangements have been agreed to by the employer and the employee; 5 days/week. Usually 40 hours/week. Other Requirements Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and have current auto liability coverage.
