Position Summary In-Person Position The Sr. Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist - Credentialed is responsible for supporting the management, integrity, security, and compliant release of patient health records. This position analyzes, protects, and maintains both electronic and traditional medical information essential to quality patient care, while ensuring compliance with federal mandates, facility guidelines, HIPAA requirements, and applicable privacy standards. The Sr. HIM Specialist monitors release of information, record processing, physician documentation, scanning, transcription services, daily discharge processes, and required documentation reviews. This role also assists with training and orientation of HIM staff and provides departmental supervision in the absence of the HIM Director. Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree required.
AHIMA credential required; RHIT or RHIA preferred/accepted as applicable.
Minimum of two to three years of supervisory and/or managerial-level experience in Health Information Management and/or a medical office setting preferred.
Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality, privacy requirements, clinical documentation standards, and medical record compliance. Key Responsibilities
Manage and ensure the Release of Information process for inpatient medical records.
Run daily discharge reports, retrieve discharge records from units, and reconcile records as needed.
Conduct and document daily H/P and IPE reviews as required.
Abstract patient records for HBIPS and ensure timely completion of related chart reviews.
Maintain statistical logs for HIM audits and provide statistical data for monthly quality reports.
Assemble, scan, analyze, and process discharged EMR charts when necessary.
Monitor physician documentation, transcription services, record processing, and scanning activities.
Train and assist with orientation of new HIM staff members.
Cover HIM staff positions as needed and support departmental workflow.
Maintain HIM compliance with clinical documentation requirements, facility guidelines, and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.
Foster professional relationships with medical staff, leadership, coworkers, patients, families, vendors, and outside agencies.
Oversee and supervise HIM staff in the absence of the HIM Director.

Pay:
$47,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
