Summary :
This job is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department and for serving as a daily advocate for the customers served by the HIM department, and for overseeing the coordination of service delivery.
Responsibilities :
Knowledge of medical record practice, policies and procedures, general medical records maintenance, and knowledge of applicable TJC standards, as well as federal and state laws and regulations. The ability to hear and communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person, as well as demonstration of good written and verbal communication skills. The ability to interact with peers, executive and medical staff and other customers in an effective manner that positively represents Children's Health System of Texas. Evaluates the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies and procedures. Recommends new and revised procedures to ensure the proper collection and maintenance of medical information to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Manage workflow among all staff to ensure maximum productivity and quality standards are met. Prioritizes work to ensure completion of HIM functions.
How You'll Be Successful:
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years Supervisory experience, project management, or coding/data integrity required Previous HIM and Release of Information experience preferred
EDUCATION
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a healthcare profession required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Registration as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or comparable certificate required upon hire A Place Where You Belong We put our people first.
