Job Overview Elevation Medics is a premier first-response company partnering with National, State, and Regional entities to provide crucial medical services on Wildland Fire Incidents. Our Wilderness EMTs deploy across the United States. Because personnel operate in remote areas with limited cellular service and amenities, this role requires high self-sufficiency, exceptional driving and navigation skills, and top-tier clinical competency. A typical assignment lasts 14 days on-scene (excluding travel time) and can be extended up to 21 days. Responsibilities Clinical & Patient Care Deliver immediate, high-quality medical assistance to wildland firefighters and incident personnel. Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations and vital signs monitoring. Perform rapid patient triage to prioritize care based on injury severity and physiological status. Manage airway patency using basic and advanced airway management techniques. Administer medications and basic life support (BLS) interventions in strict accordance with established protocols. Coordinate and conduct critical care transport to designated medical rendezvous points when higher-level care is required. Maintain accurate, compliant documentation of patient assessments, vitals, and treatments administered. Incident Operations & Logistics Navigate safely and efficiently between home bases, Incident Command Posts (ICP), and active firelines. Interpret wildland fire maps, terrain features, and daily operational briefings. Operate BK radios (or equivalent incident communication equipment) to maintain contact with fire resources. Maintain physical and mental readiness throughout a 14-to-21-day deployment away from home, often without cellular reception. Manage personal logistics, including sleeping in a tent and maintaining all personal camp equipment for the duration of the assignment. Pass and maintain the Arduous Pack Test (walking 3 miles with a 45 lb pack in under 45 minutes). Experience & Qualifications Required Current EMT Certification (National Registry and/or State). Current FFT2 Certification (Red Card) Ability to drive emergency response vehicles safely in rugged terrain and perform heavy lifting/physically demanding tasks. Preferred (Not Required) Prior EMT experience with a focus on pre-hospital care, urgent care, or emergency room procedures. Prior wildland fire or incident response experience. Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Proven skills in airway management, patient assessment, and trauma triage in high-pressure environments. Familiarity with air ambulance or critical care transport operations.
