Job Description
Lead and shape behavioral health services at South Peninsula Hospital, helping build a seamless, patient-centered continuum of care while supporting a dedicated team and making a meaningful difference in the Homer community.
Supervise, support, and develop behavioral health staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, scheduling, and continuing education.
Identify gaps in behavioral health services and lead initiatives that improve access, quality, patient satisfaction, and continuity of care.
Manage departmental operations, including budgets, contracts, productivity, documentation, compliance, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with physicians, hospital departments, medical staff, patients, caregivers, and community partners to promote coordinated, high-quality care.
Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of behavioral health services and the continuum of care.
Knowledge of quality improvement, program development, and healthcare operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build collaborative relationships, and foster a positive work environment.
Ability to understand and apply applicable federal and state regulations, organizational policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and behavioral health best practices.
Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including prolonged sitting or standing, walking, stooping, and occasional lifting, with sufficient mobility, basic manual dexterity, reasoning, and communication skills. ENVIRONMENTThe South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. This role is primarily performed indoors during generally Monday-Friday, 40-hour workweeks, with some flexibility based on operational needs. The position requires strong emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, staff, providers, and community partners in a dynamic healthcare environment. Job hazards may include exposure to infectious illnesses, emotionally challenging situations, workplace stress, and the general risks associated with working in hospital, clinical, and behavioral health settings; employees are expected to follow established safety, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control practices.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field. Five years of related experience required.Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
