In this vital role, you will serve as the primary liaison between patients, insurance providers, and our clinical staff to ensure smooth and accurate processing of dental insurance claims, verifications, and authorizations. Duties Verify patient insurance coverage prior to appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance portals. Obtain insurance prior authorizations for necessary dental procedures, ensuring timely approval for treatment plans. Manage dental insurance claims submissions, follow up on outstanding payments, and resolve claim denials efficiently. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Utilize CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure precise billing and reimbursement processes. Collaborate with managed care organizations and insurance providers to clarify policy details, benefits, and coverage limitations. Conduct insurance verification and benefit analysis for new and existing patients, providing clear explanations of coverage options. Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting, tracking claims, and managing correspondence related to insurance matters. Assist with medical office tasks such as updating medical records, managing electronic health records (EHR/EHR management), and supporting overall office operations. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding insurance benefits, billing issues, or claim status updates promptly and professionally. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office administration with a focus on dental or healthcare insurance billing preferred. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health record systems (EHR/EHR management). Experience with CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, ICD coding practices, medical coding, and insurance verification processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex insurance information clearly to patients. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of dental office operations combined with strong organizational skills is highly desirable.
