Responsibilities and Duties:
Primary Function:
Conduct research using bioinformatics theory and methods in areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical technology, biotechnology, computational biology, proteomics, computer information science, biology and medical informatics. May design databases and develop algorithms for processing and analyzing genomic information, or other biological information.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Use existing bioinformatics tools to analyze the sequence data generated in pipelines. Develop new software applications or customize existing applications to meet specific scientific project needs Work with vendors and partners to analyze problems, recommend technology-based solutions, or determine computational strategies, design and apply bioinformatics algorithms including unsupervised and supervised machine learning, dynamic programming, or graphic algorithms Perform quality analysis of the generated sequencing data and develop solutions to enhance future performance Analyze large datasets such as raw microarray data, genomic sequence data, and proteomics data for clinical research purpose Develop data models and databases, develop technical or scientific databases Perform different types of data analysis relating to the genomics-based approaches utilized by the lab, in an independent fashion. Maintain and troubleshoot existing bioinformatics pipelines Develop new bioinformatics pipelines to support new molecular assays Work with lab users to analyze biology data and address research needs using bioinformatics techniques and tools Present results of the analyses to the team members
Qualifications:
Master's degree or above Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Genetics, Epidemiology, computational sciences or relevant field or a combination of relevant experience and education Good English skills both in oral and written. Passion for research with can-do attitude and problem-solving skills Good communication skills and an ability to work independently within a team and in a project-oriented environment are essential
