Referral Coordinator / Certified Medical Assistant (Primary Care)

4 Days per Week Our busy primary care practice is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator / Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. This role combines both administrative and clinical responsibilities and is ideal for someone who enjoys providing excellent patient care while supporting providers in a fast-paced environment. ResponsibilitiesReferral Coordination Process referrals and imaging orders through patients' insurance plans. Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance benefits. Coordinate referrals to specialists and ancillary services. Send medical records, imaging reports, and other required documentation to specialist offices. Follow up on referral status and communicate updates with patients and providers. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Clinical Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs. Administer injections and immunizations as ordered. Perform EKGs. Conduct ear irrigations (ear flushes). Place Holter monitors and provide patient instructions. Assist providers with in-office procedures. Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and follow infection control guidelines. Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EMR. Qualifications Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a primary care or outpatient medical office preferred. Experience with insurance authorizations, referral processing, and EMR systems preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Friendly, professional, and committed to providing outstanding patient care.
