Brentwoodjackson.com Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Director of Utilization Review Management specializing in behavioral health settings. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in utilization review, case management, and behavioral health services. The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of utilization review processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as NCQA and HIPAA, while promoting optimal patient care and resource management. Responsibilities Lead and manage the utilization review team to ensure efficient assessment, authorization, and documentation of behavioral health services. Develop policies and procedures aligned with industry standards, including NCQA accreditation requirements and Medicare regulations. Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting related to utilization trends, quality metrics, and compliance audits. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, nurses, physicians, and case managers to optimize patient care plans and discharge planning processes. Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and medical records management. Provide leadership in staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team environment. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of behavioral health treatment modalities, physiology, anatomy, and mental health counseling practices to inform review processes.
Qualifications Experience:
5 years clinical experience with a psychiatric mental health population desired. 2-3 years experience in Utilization Review. Management experience preferred.
Education:
Bachelors prepared healthcare professional (Nursing, Counseling, Psychology or Social Work). Masters preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Therapist or Social Worker (LPC/LMSW/LCSW) required. Extensive hospital experience with a focus on behavioral health or mental health services. Proven management and supervising experience within utilization review or case management departments. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations including NCQA standards, Medicare policies, and HIPAA compliance. Knowledge of medical terminology, discharge planning procedures, medical records documentation review, and social work practices. Familiarity with managed care operations, patient assessment techniques, and behavioral therapy methodologies. Leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams while ensuring adherence to quality standards. Background in addiction counseling or mental health counseling is an asset; additional experience in ICU or emergency medicine settings is beneficial.
