Job Description

The East End YMCA in Madison is hiring a part-time healthy living coordinator.
Shifts:
Late afternoon and evenings; some weekends may be required, work up to 28 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Assist Healthy Living Director with interviewing, hiring, and reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure records of staff certifications and training are current and complete. Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information including Smart Start, rosters, and evaluation cards/surveys. Adjust instructor schedules and class sizes as needed, and communicate changes to staff, members and participants. Assist in the development of program budgets to meet financial objectives. Supervise/monitor class instruction during the first week of a session to ensure all staff and member needs are met. Observe classes, at least one per session, to ensure uniformity among class instruction/curriculum. Assist Healthy Living Director with special events, programs and community outreach initiatives. Teach and sub classes on an as-needed basis. Understand your role as a mandated reporter for elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrate and uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and growth mindset in all aspects of your work.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 18 years of age. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service or related experience. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. At least 2 years' experience in group exercise instruction or wellness center coaching. Basic knowledge of computers. Phone skills, communication, typing/ data entry/ office management software/ basic knowledge of office equipment and related software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-starter able to handle multiple tasks under limited supervision, work well in a team setting and be detailed oriented. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to raise their voice to be heard above ambient noise level. Ability to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently throughout the work shift. Walk throughout the facility and climb stairs occasionally. Have visual acuity to determine safety, security, and assessment of participant's movements. Receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
