Job Description

Medina Hospital's 2 South is a General Medicine Unit known for its compassionate, comprehensive, and patient-first patient care, highly skilled nursing team and engaging work environment. Featuring four private rooms and 14 semi-private rooms, caregivers in this unit are responsible for managing pre-surgical patients and patients needing antibio tic treatment and wound care, advanced dressing changes and bedside thoracentesis/paracentesis. As a Health Unit Coordinator on the team, you will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and other caregivers to promote and support positive patient experiences. Your work allows the nurse to focus solely on the patient by alleviating them from having to complete administrative/clerical tasks. This role provides the opportunity to further your education, a pathway to pursue magnet and a steppingstone to climbing the clinical ladder. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 AM - 3:30PM , including rotating weekends and holidays . A caregiver who excels in this role will: Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED One year of experience in a customer service-related role Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: College degree Microsoft Office experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly:
$18.25 Maximum hourly: $24.95 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
