Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment located near Metairie, LA. This contract position places you in a collaborative setting, working closely with educators and school staff to provide accessible learning opportunities and help students reach their fullest potential.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience working in educational settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for hearing impairments Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred Skilled at developing and adapting individualized education plans (IEPs) Compassionate, flexible, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using a variety of communication modalities Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt curriculum to meet student needs Conduct assessments and track student progress on educational goals Advocate for students' access and inclusion throughout the school day Consult with families, school staff, and related service professionals to provide strategies and resources Attend and participate in IEP meetings; contribute expertise regarding hearing loss and educational access This is an excellent opportunity to put your specialized skills to use, working in a supportive environment where every day brings new challenges and rewards.
