Our Carolina Crossing, Pittsboro, and Cary locations focus on adult amplification and implantable devices in addition to diagnostic assessment of adult and pediatric outpatient populations. Externs rotate between two of our three adult focused sites, Carolina Crossing and Pittsboro. Our previous externs have gone on to careers working in hospitals, private clinics, research, academic education, and manufacturer positions. Graduates of our program will have extensive experience with complex patient care in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. Adult Cochlear Implant Program:

We are one of the largest cochlear implant programs in the country and work with all 3 manufacturers extensively. We routinely complete pre-operative candidacy evaluations, initial activations, and post-operative follow-up. In addition, our adult cochlear implant program is actively involved in clinical research. -

Adult Hearing Aid Dispensing Program:

We have a well-established hearing aid dispensing program and work with all major manufacturers. We routinely complete candidacy evaluations, amplification consultations, verification, and fitting of device. -ENT coverage /

Diagnostics:

The Department of Audiology works collaboratively with attending physicians and residents from UNC's Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery to provide audiology diagnostic evaluations for adult and pediatric outpatient populations with a wide variety of hearing disorders in a fast-paced environment. -

Tinnitus Clinic:

patients at our Pittsboro clinic are evaluated to determine specific tinnitus needs and treatment options. They receive extensive counseling and testing related to this concern. -

Other Implantable Devices:

We work with a variety of implantable devices spanning from bone conduction solutions to auditory brainstem implants. We routinely complete pre-operative candidacy evaluations, initial activations, and post-operative follow-up for these devices.
