Responsibilities In this role the Histology Technologist will perform the following duties: Perform complex histological procedures to prepare tissue specimens for Pathologist examination and diagnosis. Receive, accession, handle, embed, cut, and stain surgical and cytological specimens. Perform special stains and prepare cytology specimens for microscopic evaluation. Identify, investigate, and escalate specimen, accessioning, or technical issues that may impact diagnosis. Perform and document quality control procedures and take corrective action when results fall outside established standards. Operate, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment. Maintain accurate records and organized files of specimens, tissue blocks, and slides. Monitor inventory and supplies and communicate reordering needs to leadership. Follow all laboratory safety protocols, regulatory requirements, policies, and quality standards. Train and provide instruction to students and staff on histology techniques, laboratory procedures, and safety. Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment. Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership.
