What you'll learn: As an Aftercare Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to work with diverse groups in our beautiful Parks. The Aftercare Assistant is an excellent position to begin your career in childcare, providing opportunity for growth and development. You'll participate in important training including CPR/First Aid Training all while learning: Communication and customer services skills Managing and redirecting groups of children Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques Activity planning Safety awareness What you'll do: This position performs intermediate paraprofessional work planning and supervising the activities of children at a recreation center. Work is performed under general supervision.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their watch. Escorts children using different forms of transportation (i.e., walking, bus). Ensure all appropriate forms are completed by parent/guardian. Ensure parents sign their children in and out with proper identification. Understand all emergency procedures. Plan crafts, activities, songs, story time and creative play for children. Enforce health codes and good hygiene. Everyone on duty will take his/her job seriously and perform it conscientiously. Additional tasks as directed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work environment is typically performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changes that include goals, priorities, and needs of the organization and position. The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Must be able to constantly stand and walk for extended periods of time. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
This position is deemed a safety sensitive position in accordance with Florida State Statute Chapter 112.0455 Drug Free Workplace Act and is subject to pre-employment drug screening. Applicant will need to pass a level II background screening from the Department of Children and Families (DCF) clearinghouse before their date of hire.
