Female Community Support WorkerA Meaningful, Joyful Role for the Right Person We are looking for a truly special person to provide individualized support and companionship to a delightful young woman with developmental disabilities. Finding the right fit matters deeply to us. This is more than simply completing caregiving tasks or supervising activities. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with others, shows up with warmth and integrity, and understands the privilege and responsibility that comes with supporting another person's independence, dignity, safety, and quality of life. The right person will be dependable, ethical, engaged, nurturing, patient, and genuinely interested in getting to know the unique person she is. We want someone who can delight in her personality, celebrate her successes, laugh with her, encourage her, and help make everyday life enjoyable. And honestly—she makes this a pretty delightful job. What the Role Looks Like A big part of this position is simply doing life together. She enjoys swimming, crafts, Play-Doh, coloring, movies, watching trains, chatting, community outings, and other activities. We are looking for someone willing to enthusiastically participate rather than simply supervise from the sidelines. You will provide the level of support she needs while continually looking for opportunities to encourage independence, confidence, communication, and meaningful participation in her home and community.
Responsibilities include:
Engaging in her favorite activities with genuine interest and enthusiasm. Assisting with daily living needs, including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and household tasks. Encouraging independence and providing learning opportunities appropriate to her developmental abilities. Providing transportation and support for community activities in the Rathdrum, Post Falls, Hayden, and Coeur d'Alene areas, generally within a 10-mile radius. Supporting communication and social interactions while in the community. Accompanying and supporting her during volunteer activities, including helping with communication, task completion, and safety. Maintaining appropriate supervision and prioritizing safety at all times, including keeping her within line of sight when outside the home. Providing sincere, engaged interaction that contributes to her happiness and overall quality of life. Working comfortably in a family home where family members and pets are part of the everyday environment. The Kind of Person We Are Looking For This role requires someone who understands that excellent support is both professional and personal. We expect interactions to be genuine, ethical, respectful, and engaged. She deserves someone who is present with her—not simply someone who is physically present. The ideal person can balance kindness with leadership, nurturing with appropriate boundaries, and encouragement with assertiveness. You should be comfortable taking charge when safety or circumstances require it while still treating her with dignity, patience, and respect. Reliability is essential. Consistency and trust matter, so we are looking for someone who takes commitments seriously and understands that showing up as expected makes a meaningful difference in another person's life. What Matters Most to
Us Connection:
Taking the time to know and appreciate her individual personality, interests, preferences, and ways of communicating.
Providing ethical, trustworthy support even when no one is watching.
Dignity:
Treating her as a whole person whose preferences, feelings, privacy, and independence matter.
Growth:
Looking for opportunities to teach, encourage, and support independence rather than automatically doing things for her.
Safety:
Remaining attentive and consistently following established safety expectations.
Joy:
Recognizing that quality of life matters. We want her days to include connection, fun, accomplishment, laughter, and experiences she enjoys. Qualifications Must be female Must be 18 years of age or older Must be physically capable of participating in activities such as walking, swimming, and community outings Must successfully pass a background check Must have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance Must have access to a safe, reliable vehicle Must provide professional and personal references Most Importantly... We are not simply looking to fill a shift. We are looking for the right fit. Skills can be taught, routines can be learned, and familiarity develops with time.
What matters most is character:
kindness, integrity, reliability, patience, good judgment, genuine engagement, and the ability to see and appreciate the wonderful person you are supporting. This position can be incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun. For the right person, it is an opportunity to have a job where swimming, crafts, movies, train watching, conversation, community adventures, and plenty of laughter are genuinely part of the workday. If you are someone who finds joy in helping another person live a full, meaningful life—and you believe support should be provided with dignity, enthusiasm, and genuine human connection—we would love to hear from you.
