Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, developmental challenges, and aging needs. Your efforts will empower clients to achieve greater independence, improve their daily living skills, and enjoy meaningful community engagement. Duties Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and hygiene. Support clients in medication administration and monitoring vital signs as needed, ensuring adherence to care plans. Facilitate patient observation and monitor health status to identify changes or concerns promptly. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary requirements and assist with meal consumption. Operate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques safely and effectively. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to sanitation standards. Provide transportation assistance for appointments, community outings, or errands while ensuring client safety at all times. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, autism, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly desirable. Experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is preferred. Knowledge of care plans, medication administration protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient monitoring techniques is essential. Demonstrated ability to perform patient personal care assistance with compassion and professionalism. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, or geriatrics is advantageous. Proven skills in manual handling, patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts, and heavy lifting are important for success in this role. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork are necessary to deliver high-quality support.
