Job Description
Childplace NORTH Direct Support Professional (DSP) This job is in Sellersburg, IN (9 miles North of Louisville off I-65). As a Direct Support Professional at Childplace, you will play a pivotal role in supervising and providing compassionate care to adolescents (ages 10-20) in our Residential Treatment program for Developmentally Delayed and Intellectually Disabled young men. This program serves youth who have experienced trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional difficulties. You will be responsible for assisting with educational activities, facilitating therapeutic interventions, and supporting daily routines such as mealtimes, recreation, and hygiene. Overnight staff will be responsible for regular bed checks, deep cleaning and other chores, and morning wake-up/routine. Your presence and intervention will be key in promoting the emotional well-being, safety, and development of these young individuals, ensuring a nurturing environment that fosters growth and healing. Compensation Starting pay for the role on $16.00/hour (base rate); 2nd Shift pay (Monday - Friday, 3 pm-11 pm=base rate+$2 shift differential) is $18.00/hour; Weekend pay (Friday 11pm to Sunday 11pm=base rate+$4 shift differential) is $20.00/hour. Childplace reimburses Kentucky residents for tolls. Current Open Shifts Part-time and full-time openings available for the following: First Shift (7am-3pm) [1 opening] Second Shift (3pm-11pm) [2 openings] Third Shift (11pm-8am) with [2 openings] At least one weekend shift per week required . Qualifications Must be at least 21 years old High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Must be emotionally mature Be able to pass multiple background checks Be able to sustain moderate physical activity Upon hire, candidates will need to complete a tb screening, basic employment physical, and drug screen, in addition to a driving record search to determine eligibility to be placed on the agency's auto insurance. At least one weekend shift per week is required. Job Responsibilities A person in this role will be responsible for supervising between 1 and 4 residents (depending on the resident's needs) as those residents complete daily living activities. The DSP is responsible for : modeling positive relationships skills, following the outlined schedule/program, assisting residents as they complete their program, including chores, schoolwork, hygiene, meals, recreation, and therapeutic activities, medication distribution (after required training), and documentation each shift.
Overnight DSPs are responsible for:
completing regular bed checks, assisting residents who wake up or are ill during the night, deep cleaning and other chores, waking clients and running morning routine, documentation each shift. When needed, the DSP will be expected to intervene to correct behaviors, according to an outlined behavior plan. The DSP will be working alongside other professionals responsible for supervising a group of residents, along with clinical and supervisory staff who can assist and intervene as necessary. No experience necessary; all training is provided.
