Direct Support Professional Shoals, IN 47581 From $18 an hour - Part-time From $18 an hour - Part-time Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will empower residents to live fulfilling lives by assisting with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and hygiene Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings accurately Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans Help with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition for residents Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with mobility using safe manual handling techniques Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation of living spaces Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a respectful and engaging atmosphere Assist with transportation to medical appointments, community outings, or other activities as needed Follow all safety protocols including CPR, first aid, and emergency response procedures Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and care plans Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer's care is advantageous Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is a plus Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely using proper techniques such as patient transfer methods Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information Certification in CPR and first aid is required or must be obtained upon hire Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with residents, families, and team members Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts as needed Passion for caregiving with a positive attitude dedicated to improving residents' quality of life Join us in making a difference!
