Autism and Nonverbal Support Schedule:
5 days per week, approximately 2 hours every day We are seeking a compassionate, patient, dependable Direct Support Partner to support a nonverbal individual with autism. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, along with basic sign language and Spanish communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Support the participant with day-to-day independent living skills
Teach and use basic sign language and other communication strategies to promote effective communication
Use supportive behavior-management strategies such as positive reinforcement, prompting, fading, and redirection techniques
Observe, understand, and respond appropriately to behaviors while providing patient person-centered support
Collect data, document progress, and provide updates to the family on behavior and goals
Foster independence, safety, and meaningful engagement in daily routines Qualifications
Experience supporting individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or nonverbal individuals.
Have an understanding of nonverbal individuals, people with intellectual disabilities and autism
Basic Spanish skills to communicate with family members
Knowledge of basic sign language (ASL)
Patient, dependable, and compassionate with strong communication skills
Ability to maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect compassionately with clients of all ages
