Job Description

Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Behavioral Support Staff Amara Health Care is currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support children and adults with behavioral needs and developmental disabilities in home and community-based settings. Position Overview The DSP will provide direct care, behavioral support, supervision, and community integration services to children and adults with developmental and behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, professional, and experienced in managing challenging behaviors while promoting independence, safety, and positive outcomes. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support to children or adults in home and community settings Assist with daily living activities and skill development Implement behavior support strategies and follow care plans Support emotional regulation and positive social interactions Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment Document services and communicate effectively with families and supervisors Transport clients to community activities if needed Respond appropriately to behavioral situations using approved crisis intervention techniques Requirements Previous experience working with children or adults with behavioral challenges and/or developmental disabilities required Preferred Mandt trained/certified High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred Strong communication and professionalism Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress situations CPR/First Aid certification preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or emotional/behavioral disorders Background in home care, special education, or mental health support Schedule Monday-Friday Why Join Amara Health Care? $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
