Job Description
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal home. Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care. Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms. Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping. Paid trainings, including CPR/First Aid DSP's assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by: Assisting with participation and exploration of the community Cultivating and expanding independent living skills Assisting with development of meaningful and personal relationships Implementing strategies to achieve individuals' personal goals Eligible candidates must have a high school degree/GED and a current driver's license with less than three points on their driving record.
The hours for this position:
Every other Saturday & Sunday 8a-6p and 2 weekday evenings 4:30p-9p (19 hours). This position may be paired with another to increase hours. Support needed to assist a man in the Towson area to live independently in his home. Provide support with managing emotions, working through conflict, making safe and healthy relationships, developing friendships, and maintaining his home. Support is needed with learning about healthy meals and eating with diabetes. Assist with finding new recipes, meal planning, shopping, and cooking. Assist with finding activities in the community to create a fun and meaningful day. Staff should be dependable and reliable. This position requires the use of personal vehicles to provide transportation within the community. This position requires the use of a personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation.
