The aide works under the supervision of a nurse or other healthcare professional and assists with daily living activities, basic health-related tasks, and companionship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist clients with personal care activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. Help with mobility, transfers, and repositioning to prevent discomfort or injury. Provide meal preparation and assist with feeding as needed. Perform light housekeeping tasks related to client care, such as tidying living areas, changing linens, and laundry. Remind clients to take medications as directed, according to agency policy and scope of practice. Monitor and report changes in the client's condition, behavior, or environment to the supervising nurse or care coordinator. Assist with errands, shopping, and transportation to appointments when assigned. Offer companionship and emotional support to clients and families. Follow care plans, safety procedures, and infection control guidelines. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided. Respect client privacy, confidentiality, and cultural preferences. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Training Required:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Completion of an approved Home Health Aide training program. Current certification as a Home Health Aide, if required by state or employer. CPR/First Aid certification may be required.

Experience Required:

Reliable transportation and valid driver's license may be required.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Ability to assist with repositioning, transfers, and mobility support. May be required to lift or move light to moderate weights, depending on client needs and agency policy. Manual dexterity needed for personal care tasks and documentation. May require prolonged periods of activity and physical stamina.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed in clients' homes and other community settings. Exposure to varying home conditions, temperatures, and living environments. May encounter unsanitary conditions, odors, pets, smoke, or other household hazards. Frequent contact with clients who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or recovering from injury. May require travel between client locations. Work may involve exposure to contagious illnesses or bodily fluids; adherence to safety and infection control procedures is essential.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
